“My sheets have cactuses on them.”
Last month, I spoke at a conference about creating momentum in our lives by making changes in our homes.
Afterwards, a young woman came up to me and asked if I could help her. Attracting a relationship was harder than finding pumpkin spiced lattes in summer.
SHE STARTED BY SAYING…
“I live in a college dorm with my roommate.”
WHAT I HEARD…
“Flexibility was not going to be our friend.”
>> Built-in desks.
>> Other people’s stuff.
>> Limited space.
These were all the things that could block us from making any kind of Marie Kondo transformation in her room.
BUT SOMETIMES…
It doesn’t require us to wish upon a star for a bigger room or a neater roommate.
Sometimes, the changes that will reveal our radiance are right under our noses.
When I asked this young woman to describe her room, she told me that her bed was in the back right side of the room. In feng shui, this area of a space is associated with the energy of our relationships. She then told me that the pattern on her sheets was cactuses. In fact, she had cactuses all over her room.
I gently asked if perhaps she was protecting herself from getting hurt in relationships. From the look on her face, we had just uncovered what was blocking her light.
SO WHAT WAS NEXT?
In the Interior Alignment School of Feng Shui and Space Clearing, we teach that our homes are a mirror of our lives. And when we shift the energy of one, we shift the energy of the other.
Here’s what that looks like in this situation:
- Subtracting the prickly sheets and cactus plants. The two things that weren’t in alignment with how she wanted to feel in relationship with others.
- Adding new sheets. Ones that look and feel nurturing, the way she wanted to feel in relationship with others.
This easy peasy energetic shift in her space will then set the stage for shifting the energy in her life.
New sheets become the reminder to let go of the people in her life that dim her light. And, they set the intention to attract people in her life that will nurture, love and help her shine.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
Is there something in the Relationship area of your home that you can subtract, so others see your beautiful, brilliant, bright light?
HERE ARE 3 QUICK STEPS TO FIND OUT:
- Stand with your back to your front door.
- Walk to the area that is in the far back, right corner of your home.
- Ask yourself, “What in this space might be blocking my relationships and from others seeing my radiance?”
Here’s to shining radiantly,
xo

P.S. Live in the Southern Hemisphere? If so, then the Relationship area of your home will be the space in the back LEFT of your home.
